About Us
Bay City Industrial Supply’s History
Bay City Industrial Supply’s history can be traced back to 1949 when Mr. “Bud” Phipps began his career at a small independent distribution company called “Bay City Bearing”. With a dedicated and enthusiastic staff, Bay City Bearing thrived and grew to lead the power transmission market in Southern California. When the company was purchased by an out of state firm, Mr. Harry Oranges hired Bud to open what would be the first branch of King Bearing Inc. in Southern California. With their “Can Do” mentality and unparalleled service and commitment to great customer service Bud oversaw the opening of more than a dozen King Bearing branches in Southern California. Raising the bar in customer service was always at the forefront of their mission.
Mr. Dave Phipps joined King Bearing in 1980 as an outside salesperson at an Orange County branch of the company; his extensive career in the power transmission field would begin here. After 11 years of being one of the top performers in the company, King Bearing was purchased by a national chain distributor. It was at this time, in 1991 that Dave made the decision to venture out on his own and open his own branch in Orange CA. Quickly outgrowing this location they moved to a larger facility in Anaheim. In 2011 our team led by Clint Barnes and Ryan Phipps opened our second branch in Long Beach, CA.
Now Bay City Industrial Supply is the fastest growing family owned independent power transmission distributor in Southern California. Our foundation and reputation has been heavily built on customer service. We commit (as always) to put our customer first and strive for excellence. We take pride in the fact that we are family owned and operated. I take pride in overseeing the best team of employees in our industry and truly believe that Bay City Industrial Supply is “The Best in the West”.
If your company is looking to find out what “Next Level” service looks like then please consider giving our team an opportunity to earn your business. Our employees are what separate us from our competition.
Sincerely,
Dave Phipps
